Job Summary

The Fast Track Underwriter manages small property/casualty renewal accounts (commercial and emergency), and agency relationships, in order to serve our customers quickly and efficiently.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze renewal accounts and prices in accordance with company guidelines and individual underwriting authority levels.

  • Quote, release, set up, and issue renewal business in accordance with the service level agreement.

  • Review and quote renewal business in a time frame that allows for conditional renewal or non-renewal notice.

  • Maintain familiarity and compliance with state insurance regulations and ISO rules for all states within the underwriting territory.

  • Analyze and approve requested policy changes as appropriate.

  • Provide timely, professional, polite, and friendly customer service through email and phone.

  • Coordinate consumer requests, such as insurance proposals, policy copies, proof of insurance, optional quotes, certificates, etc.

  • Provide backup support for other associates when necessary.

  • Make sound underwriting decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition, and controls.

  • Ability to understand and apply rating, underwriting practices, and concepts.

  • Complete special projects as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.

  • 1 year of insurance agency or company underwriting experience preferred.

  • Property & Casualty Insurance industry coursework a plus.

  • Strong sales skills and business acumen.

  • Ability to negotiate mutually beneficial solutions.

  • Excellent people skills – Comfortable communicating in person, via telephone, email, text, etc.

  • Solid analytical skills.

  • Well-organized, goal-oriented, self-motivated, and energetic.

  • Ability to think critically possessing a natural inquisitiveness.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize, maintaining required production levels.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$45,000 - $50,000/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above range may be modified in the future
