About This Internship

Underwriting Automation (AQUA) is a part of the Information Systems department under the Underwriting domain. This department works across Information Systems and other Arch MI business units to provide solutions for our customers.

Arch MI is seeking an intern with experience in software design, coding and debugging. Intern will work on the Underwriting Automation team to help develop products for Arch MI and will gain exciting real-world software engineering experience. Intern will learn how to code in pairs and implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) within the application. They will get to learn different product development life cycles and how to integrate one life cycle with another by adding automation testing and monitoring.

Program Qualifications:

The standard qualifications of all Arch intern candidates are:

• 3.0 GPA.

• College level – current Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student.

• Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner.

• Team player who collaborates effectively. The individual will work on a team and gain valuable experience.

• Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• This role requires an individual with technical skills and problem-solving skills.

Position Qualifications:

• Required – Java 8, Rest Service with JSON formats, and Web UI development (Angular)

• Nice to have – No-SQL DB (Mongo DB) and SQL.

• Knowledge of any CI/CD tool like Jenkins.

Location & Work Arrangement

• This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 3 days onsite and 2 days from home.

• This position is in Greensboro, NC.

Timeline

Arch summer internship positions will be posted from October 2023 – March 2024 and will be unposted when filled.

Pay

For individuals assigned to or hired to work in Greensboro, NC, the hourly rate is $22 to $30 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
