About This Internship
Arch’s 10-week summer internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. It provides challenging learning experiences that serve as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside some of the most talented members of the specialty insurance industry, interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field, participate in learning activities and receive ongoing feedback.
About This Role
Support underwriting of accounts under the guidance and mentorship of experienced underwriters.
Participate in division-specific underwriting previews of accounts.
Contribute to benchmarking projects, including: Private Equity Benchmarking and Fiduciary Benchmarking for Public Company risks.
Assist in initiatives such as Digital Submission projects and File Audit Compliance.
Work with three sub-business units including Large Commercial Group (Private companies with over $1B in revenue and public companies with over $500M), Growth and Middle Market Group (Private companies with less than $1B in revenue and public companies with less than $500M), and Financial Services (Underwriting banks, hedge funds, private equity firms, asset managers, and insurance companies).
Gain exposure to coverage areas which may include Directors and Officers Insurance, Employment Practices Liability Insurance, Fiduciary Liability, Crime, Kidnap and Ransom, and Cyber Insurance.
Qualifications
Actively completing area of study in Insurance & Risk Management, Finance, Data Analytics, Economics or relevant program.
Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
College level - current Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner.
Team player who collaborates effectively.
Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Location & Work Arrangement
The program dates are June 2 - August 8, 2025.
This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 2 days onsite and 3 days from home.
This position is in Chicago, IL.
Relocation and housing assistance is not provided for this role.

Pay
For individuals assigned to or hired to work in Chicago, IL, the hourly rate is $22-30 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
