Description

Ascot is seeking an experienced Underwriting Assistant to help launch and grow a suite of public, private, and nonprofit management liability products. The role will report to the Senior Vice President of Management Liability and be based out of our Atlanta, New York, or Chicago office, but consideration may be made for the position to be based outside of these locations.

Responsibilities

  • Support all steps of the underwriting process in conjunction with the underwriting operations function.
  • Liaise with Underwriters, Brokers, Finance Dept., and Reinsurers as needed to communicate account status and complete outstanding subjectivities.
  • Liaise with Underwriters to confirm policy issuance instructions for policies, endorsements, forms, notices, certificates, etc, and effectively complete coding/issuance.
  • Assist with new and renewal business life cycle work such as submission preparation, rating, referral prep, quoting, and binding all the way through to policy issuance and endorsements within assigned authority.
  • In-depth renewal preparation.
  • Work with internal operations partners to ensure that service standards are being met.
  • Ensuring all parts of the underwriting workflow are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist underwriters in processing new business submissions and rating sheets.
  • Assist with other projects and support the underwriting team as required.
  • Become proficient in running weekly and monthly statistical reports, ensuring quality of data.

Working Knowledge Of Systems & Software

  • IMS underwriting system or other similar system
  • Outlook – use of Folders, Calendars and Contacts
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Experience And Skills Required

  • 3+ years’ experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience with financial lines (D&O, EPL, Fiduciary) preferred, but not required.
  • Advanced Excel skills are a plus.
  • Effective problem-solver.
  • A willingness to learn and the desire to foster a team environment with a “can do” attitude.
  • Highly customer-centric both internally and externally.
  • Strong collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong sense of urgency, can multitask, and is detail-oriented.
