Position Summary

The Underwriter (based in the Greater Boston area) will work on a dedicated team in the New England region. The role will be specific to excess casualty placements. The Underwriter will perform front-to-end activities throughout the lifecycle of prospect accounts. This will include new and renewal business. Guidance will be given from the New England Regional Head of Excess Casualty. The overall role is to learn and develop to further your role in commercial insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare information needed to market new and renewal business.
  • Set up new business accounts. Including but not limited to pulling data from submission, exposure, loss history, use of Co-pilot, etc.
  • Set up renewal accounts by providing renewal comparison, loss runs, new data, etc.
  • Request missing submission info from brokers.
  • Follow through on missing information after account has been bound.
  • Assist with transaction request example confirming invoicing amounts.
  • Handle Endorsement request to confirm accuracy and processing.
  • Answer incoming calls.
  • Be able to multi-task handling multiple accounts daily.
  • Provide feedback to director on status of accounts and any missing information.

Qualifications

  • Industry and/or Casualty Experience preferred.
  • RMI Degree if no prior experience or full-time business operations experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe
  • Attention to Detail.
  • High level of motivation to learn and ask questions.
  • Willingness to take on challenges and new roles.
  • Ability to prioritize throughout the day based on accounts, effective dates, types, etc.
  • Innate organizational skills and focus on personal responsibility.
  • Remote work with limited office space.
