Coaction Specialty Insurance is offering an exciting opportunity to entrepreneurial and ambitious college students who are excited to join a dynamic, fast-paced, and growing organization. In this program, you will learn our business and culture by working closely with underwriting teams and doing meaningful & impactful project work.

Our Underwriting program will provide you with an opportunity to work collaboratively and cross-functionally while making a significant impact on the organization. The Underwriting program will focus on providing interested individuals an introduction to the P&C underwriting process. Successful & high-performing interns will have the unique opportunity to join Coaction full-time upon graduation.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our underwriting, actuarial, claims, and finance teams to understand main risk factors, rating process, and contract development strategies to achieve the goal of sustainable underwriting profits.
  • Identify key criteria for the underwriting process to determine what factors drive underwriting risk selection and pricing strategies
  • Communicate with brokers to request documentation necessary to the underwriting process
  • Assist with other critical business initiatives within the underwriting department
  • Attend all informational events scheduled during the program
  • Demonstrate a strong curiosity and desire to succeed

Qualifications:

  • Student must be currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree program
  • Students must be interested in pursuing a career within the insurance industry
  • Innovative and solution-oriented
  • Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills required
  • Self-motivated & goal-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sense of urgency and ownership
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Team-oriented individual with a positive attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
