Job Description - Summer Intern - Equine Underwriting
As a valued intern on our Equine team, you will start to learn about the Equine insurance business, and you will assist more senior team members in the Underwriting of new business for the team.
Key Accountabilities and Deliverables:
You will assist with the following underwriting tasks and duties:
- With the guidance, instruction and oversight of underwriting management provide brokers competent & timely service, maintain accurate policy files and data management.
- Assess & rate equine risks, utilizing accurate pricing and established underwriting guidelines.
- Participate and contribute with special projects.
- Offer administrative support to the underwriting team as needed.
Technical Knowledge & Understanding:
- Computer and administrative skills – general working knowledge of MS Office
- Equine Industry knowledge
Qualifications:
Must be actively working towards a bachelor’s or master's degree, preferably in Equine Science, Equine Management, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Business or a related field
Experience working with cross-functional teams.
Able to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks.
Must be able to work in the U.S. without future sponsorship
Previous experience in Equine, Livestock, or Farm insurance preferred
Hands on Equine/Equine Farm experience
Strong emphasis on customer service and relationship building
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Reliable team player
Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize projects
