ABA Insurance Services, a member of Great American Insurance Group, is currently seeking an Associate Underwriter. This is a hybrid position based out of our Shaker Heights, OH office. This individual will perform a variety of moderately complex policy administration tasks in support of the underwriting department. Responsible for:

Underwriting Support

  • Reviewing insurance applications and other risk documentation.
  • Entering policy and account information into appropriate systems for quoting new, renewal and midterm business.
  • Understanding underwriting requirements to:
    • competently triage and schedule requests from agents, customers and underwriters
    • set up new and renewal submissions
    • perform preliminary risk evaluation
    • obtain necessary information needed to underwrite risks and address issues
    • organize underwriting information to speed decision making on the part of the underwriter.
  • Executing instructions from agents, customers and underwriters.
  • Researching and resolving errors and issues.
  • Responding to agent, customer and underwriter questions.
  • Maintaining file organization, accuracy and completeness.
  • Participating in departmental change processes and projects, such as user testing, documentation and quality control.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Associate Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Field of Study: Business or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Generally, 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
