Position Summary: The Underwriting Assistant will provide underwriting support to the Surety Underwriting team. Responsibilities will include support of new business, renewals, endorsements, accounting as well as general assignments and quality control initiatives that contribute to the Surety business success.

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent time management skills in order to organize and prioritize daily work commitments.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain processing manuals and/or other reference materials in order to process assigned work.

Essential Functions:

  • Process Surety business which includes supporting Surety underwriting, new business submissions, renewals, rider, cancellation, reinstatements as well as office administrative functions including agency information in an accurate and a timely manner.
  • Provide exceptional service to our agents and our internal customers.
  • Maintain Service Submission inbox.
  • Assists with special projects and other assignments as requested.
  • Assists underwriters with technical review and analysis of all new and renewal business.
  • Independently identifies and requests additional information required to complete analysis.
  • Assist accounting and agents with billing inquiries.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma required. College degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of insurance/surety experience preferred.
