Cyber E&O Underwriter I

Zurich Insurance is currently looking for a Cyber, E&O Underwriter to join our Professional Liability & Cyber unit! We are open to hiring for our New York City location. This is a market facing position that will support Zurich’s growth initiatives for the professional liability and cyber team.

In this role, you will underwrite and perform financial analysis across professional liability E&O, employed lawyers and security and privacy. The position will have technical, transactional and market facing responsibilities; and it will also make contributions in the areas of product/proposition development, marketing, fulfillment, and portfolio management. 

Our Underwriters are responsible for:  

• Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
• Developing and maintain relationships with the external broker and agency communities and other internal Zurich business units to meet production growth goals
• Providing superior service to our broker partners and customers
• Identifying and calculating the potential risk of loss from policyholders while establishing appropriate premium rates following Zurich guidelines
• Managing a portfolio of accounts and developing a pipeline of business
• Collaborating and cross selling with other stakeholders and lines of business within Zurich  

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area or Cybersecurity, Finance, Management Consulting.
  OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area or Cybersecurity, Finance, Management Consulting.
  AND
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
• Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 1 or more years’ experience in the cyber underwriting area
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Microsoft Office skills

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The starting salary range for this position is $75,000.00 - $105,000.00.
