Zurich is accepting resumes for our 2024 Complete-a-Bachelor’s Degree Apprentice Program! The program is scheduled to start in June 2024, but please apply now for early consideration.

Our innovative Underwriting Apprentice Program allows participants to simultaneously gain the education and the experience to launch a rewarding career in commercial insurance.

Zurich’s initiative is to develop a new generation of workers to help the U.S. succeed in the 21st century economy.

The two-year program offered in Los Angeles combines targeted virtual coursework with the University of Arizona Global Campus with relevant work rotations at Zurich’s Los Angeles office.

Apprentices who successfully complete this two-year program will:

• Work in a paid, benefit-eligible full-time position at Zurich
• Earn a tuition-free Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Business Administration with a concentration in Insurance
• Receive a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship
• Possess credentials and skills for today’s ever-changing marketplace
• Promoted into our Underwriting Trainee Program
  

As a part of our Middle Market Underwriting team, responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Reviews risk exposures, controls, loss history, and financial condition to aid underwriting process.
• Follows instructions from Underwriters in area of policy formation to accurately quote and issue policies.
• Provides account servicing support in collaboration with Underwriter and Manager, with responsibility for end-to-end servicing processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements.
• Supports Underwriter with customer interactions by providing basic customer service.
  

Basic Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Business Adminstration or rising Junior with two years of coursework in Business Adminstration and no prior years of experience in the Business Administration or Insurance area. Contingent on admittance into University of Arizona Global Campus Bachelor of Business Administration program.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Interest in the insurance industry
• 2 or more years of work experience and/or leadership role in student activities or community service activities
• Intermediate computer skills, especially Excel
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Ability to multitask and adapt to a changing environment
• Problem solving skills
