Are you looking for an opportunity to exercise all of your skill sets? Zurich is currently looking for a Regional Underwriting Manager to lead our newly formed E&S Primary Casualty Underwriting team. This is a new position that will be responsible for assisting in the development of the unit’s strategic risk appetite, quality controls, and business processes necessary to run a high performing team within the E&S marketplace. In this role you will also manage a team of highly skilled E&S Primary Casualty Production Underwriters, while managing a small production portfolio to stay attune with regional market changes.

You will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and to cultivate key broker relationships within the specified regions (25%). This is a critical role in driving a diversified dynamic and engaging team culture. This role requires a strong understanding of systems requirements, technical acumen, staff development and profitable production mindset.

This role will be best suited from one of the following office locations: Chicago, Schaumburg, or Atlanta!

While this position will be based out of one of these locations, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area within the Commercial Insurance industry
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area within the Commercial Insurance industry
    OR
  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area within the Commercial Insurance industry
    OR
  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area within the Commercial Insurance industry
    AND
  • 2 or more years of staff management or portfolio management with leadership experience (formal or informal)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong underwriting acumen and expertise in the E&S Primary Casualty space
  • Wholesale broker relationships
  • CPCU
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent skills in relationship building
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of forms language and coverage intent
  • Results oriented
